Art is life and life in itself is art

Sketchbook 10.May 01

In this entry theres no digital artwork, only sketches drawn on paper. Not because I wanted to dedicate it to only traditionally drawn content, though that would be nice, it’s simply because lately I haven’t really done much digitally that I’ve felt worth showing off.
And as you can see my craze for drawing eyes continues, what can I say… I like eyes. :D
But also I’m getting quite good at the topology and structure of the eye, and enjoy drawing them therefore.

As always, enjoy!

“Iridescent” – Eye Illustration

Here’s my latest creation. I used this as my reference. It’s drawn on a sheet of A5 paper using Derwent Studio Color Pencils. Sadly I did not have that many colors (only 24 to be specific), so I figure I could have made the image better and more vibrant if I had had more hues of each color to pick from. The image itself took somewhere around 2 to 3 hours. The process was first rough sketching to get all the proportions right, then erasing and defining the lines that I wanted. Next I started coloring and whenever I reached some of the linework I erased it out so I could have the color define the shapes instead. I started the coloring with iris of the eye, which was the part that took the longest and was by far the most complex part of the image. And then I just kept moving outwards from the center iris and ending with doing the eyelashes.

My Room WIP

I got really bored yesterday and I didn’t really feel like drawing anything since I have done that so much lately. So instead I chose to begin a new project in 3Ds Max, this time a kind of “endless” project. I intend to model my room in high detail, more or less doing so much of it that I feel I am capable of  and feel I have the time to spend doing. Some objects would be too complex to model and not worth it as they would be too small in proportion to the room itself to really show. Like for instance the Lamborghini Countach 5000 scale model I have in my room, I would then have to model the whole car (which in itself is a big project), just to able to have a tiny scale model in the scene… would be quite overkill. But my intent is not work on this thing till I’m done, not at all. I’m going to work on this from time to time, setting smaller goals in the scene to achieve (like making the celling lamp, and spending a weekend doing that), cause it a fun project.

Right now my goal is to complete the “bare bones” of the room. As the room would look when its empty, and only contains the things you would have when moving in (which in itself are more than you would think). Things like walls, celling, door and door frame, window, floor, floor and celling socles, outlets and so on.

This is done in 3Ds Max 2010 and rendered in Mental Ray.

And yes, if your wondering my room really has that “Omg it’s pink!… no wait, sorry it’s a light purple” color in real life (Yeah, I’ve gotten that comment). I wanted a purple room, cause purple owns (My favorite color, my favorite purple shade is Amethyst), but the painter said that having a darker shade of purple (like the once I like) would make the room too dark, so I ended up with this color instead. It’s an alright color, I just dislike that in some lightning it can seem almost pink (and as a guy I’m allergic to pink… it’s like acid to my eyes).

I will be updating this as the room progresses.

The images are sorted from most recent to oldest.
Also I added a link to the image in question in the start of every comment because theres so many images this time it can be annoying having to count the thumbnails to figure out which comment is for which image. Helps to not confuse you all.

Enjoy <3

“DarkCorner” Webdesign

This is a webdesign I made last summer as a project for a class in school called “Digital Creation” (roughly translated), but essentially it was a class to learn Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver. Now I was going to exam the class since I felt competent I knew everything there was to learn from this class, so I was asked to in a project incorporate media made from all four applications, and so the teacher said I could make a Website. Make graphics and design in Photoshop and Illustrator, then make some Flash element like a movie or such on the site and finally put it together in Dreamweaver.

Photoshop “Saturation Twirl” Action

PhotoshopActionsIconIn a previous blog post I talked about some pieces of abstract stuff I had made in Photoshop while playing around some with different techniques I had recently learned that I called “Saturation Twirls” because that’s what they looked like, twirly things with lots of saturated colors. I later uploaded the best of them to devaintArt, you can view them here if you’d like.

And now comes the next thing in my frenzy of fascination for these things, the “one-click make your own” Photoshop Action macro! You can now download an Action for Photoshop that will basically make a Saturation Twirl for you, with one click. If you are not at all familiar with what Actions in Photoshop are, then I can say that they are like macros of commands in Photoshop that you can save. And if you aren’t familiar with what a macro is then… sorry I can’t really help you. But google is your friend in the quest for unlimited knowledge! Heres a preview of what the action will create.

I’m not that sure about compatibility, i made this one in CS3 and it seems to work in both CS3 and CS4, but I’m too sure about how it will work in any earlier release of Photoshop. Also it only works in the English version of Photoshop, sorry. But hey, you can always try.
