This is a shorter story I’ve written to kind of reflect some feelings I had about life. It’s from a very egocentric view, and it is intended to be in metaphors. If you think of me as mad for writing this then fine, I don’t blame you. But if you see something more then I’m glad for you, for it’s meant to be a lot of things. But most of all it’s intended to be artistic, don’t forget that as you read it.

There was an Entity.
It was born in an environment with others of its kind; Entities. Though the Entity looked and felt the same as the other Entities, at mind it was very different.
Something the Entity noticed when it grew was that the world around it seemed vague and out of focus, because the Entity could look beyond and see other worlds, places and Entities unknown to it. But the more it looked at these other places that only it could see, the more obscure and deformed its original world seemed. Even though the Entities it saw seemed strange and different from itself, it felt an attachment stronger to them, a longing to belong with them in this other place.
Lost in its desires time stood still for the Entity while all other Entities lived their lives, because the Entity could hardly say that it lived, it only dreamed of one day living the life it wanted. The Entity tried its best at life but it could not resist the temptation of the worlds beyond that it saw. Soon it was a slave to their existence, and its time it spent observing and dreaming of the worlds beyond. The world around the Entity itself soon grew lost of the Entity, for it was nothing more then a shadow of existance to them.
The Entity became frightened of the world around itself and the other Entities, so different they seemed now it thought. It fled from them all and the place it had been born into, and found a new place it named the “Darkness” for it was but a void except for the Entity’s presence.
The Darkness was a harsh and cold place of a living which filled the Entity with despair and dread, but at least the Entity could view the worlds beyond from here even better because the void and the solitude seemed to help, and that was all that mattered to the Entity.
An eternity the Entity lived in the Darkness observing the beyond that was so precious to it while the Darkness ate away at the Entity until only madness, despair and desire filled its soul. Then suddenly a realization came to the Entity, it understood its existence as futile, for this had been the Darkness goal all along. Wanting a complete void it had slowly driven the Entity to end its existence, for such was the wish of the Darkness. So the Entity ended its own existence, but to the dismay of the Darkness not in despair, madness or desire. The Entity did it in joy; not overlooking the futility of its existence in despair, but by remembering the one only thought that brought it joy. So as the Entity faded away into nothing in the soon to be nothingness, it thought not about the pain life had given it, neither about the never ending desire it had despaired over. It’s one last thought as it faded away was that at least it had been granted to see these worlds beyond, while to its knowledge no one else had, for it had been so beautiful that it had stolen its life away.
