Art is life and life in itself is art

My Room WIP

I got really bored yesterday and I didn’t really feel like drawing anything since I have done that so much lately. So instead I chose to begin a new project in 3Ds Max, this time a kind of “endless” project. I intend to model my room in high detail, more or less doing so much of it that I feel I am capable of  and feel I have the time to spend doing. Some objects would be too complex to model and not worth it as they would be too small in proportion to the room itself to really show. Like for instance the Lamborghini Countach 5000 scale model I have in my room, I would then have to model the whole car (which in itself is a big project), just to able to have a tiny scale model in the scene… would be quite overkill. But my intent is not work on this thing till I’m done, not at all. I’m going to work on this from time to time, setting smaller goals in the scene to achieve (like making the celling lamp, and spending a weekend doing that), cause it a fun project.

Right now my goal is to complete the “bare bones” of the room. As the room would look when its empty, and only contains the things you would have when moving in (which in itself are more than you would think). Things like walls, celling, door and door frame, window, floor, floor and celling socles, outlets and so on.

This is done in 3Ds Max 2010 and rendered in Mental Ray.

And yes, if your wondering my room really has that “Omg it’s pink!… no wait, sorry it’s a light purple” color in real life (Yeah, I’ve gotten that comment). I wanted a purple room, cause purple owns (My favorite color, my favorite purple shade is Amethyst), but the painter said that having a darker shade of purple (like the once I like) would make the room too dark, so I ended up with this color instead. It’s an alright color, I just dislike that in some lightning it can seem almost pink (and as a guy I’m allergic to pink… it’s like acid to my eyes).

I will be updating this as the room progresses.

3D Project: Vintage Office

It’s finally done! This is the results of my final project of my 3Ds Max course in school, and though I could have done it a lot better I’m still quite pleased with it.

It’s supposed to be a vintage office (1900-1920′s) but due to time running a bit short on the end I did not have time to make it look very old. My idea for the concept of the room was to make the wall clock that you can see in the renders, which is modelled after a clock that I own myself, and out of that make the room match the time area. But I underestimated how big of a task the clock itself was going to be, out of the four weeks I worked on this project I spent all except the last day working on the clock. So running out of time I quickly built together the room with furnitures made out of basic geometric shapes and then tossed on some quick materials. And the materials on the clock itself was a bit rushed as well.

But I know that if I had had the time I could have made this really great. So I’m thinking of maybe going back and editing it during my summer break that’s coming up now.

But I’m still quite proud of it, I got a 2 for it in a 4 grade system (1 being the highest, 3 being pass and 4 being fail)

Enjoy ^^

New Ceramic Bowl Render

After having tried alot of times since i first made the model (a long time back), I managed to achieve a rendring on my Ceramic Bowl model that atleast looked somewhat realistic. What i had most problems with was the light, and for some reason i could not get neither the shadows or the hue of the rendering to look good (It feels to desaturated somehow).

It’s rendered using Mental Ray in 3Ds Max Design 2009. I’m going back to ticker some with the light and materials of the scene, so I might update with more renderings later this week.

If you have tips on how to improve it or if you just want just want to leave a comment you can do that blow.
