Spacecraft Concepts

This is a longer concept series I started recently of designs for spaceships to a single race. It started out with the “Heavy Fighter” and then it grew from there, I had pretty much defined the unique style and core concept of the ships after I had done the “Crusier” ship (Which ofc should be “Cruiser” but my spelling sucks).

The background story to the ships are  that they are all bio-mechanical ships, meaning that they are made out of both organic and mechanical parts. So they are essentially “grown” but in a mechanical way, being manipulated on the genetic level to produce the individual ships. They all have these “lightning” looking tails which are all an essential part to their energy systems, they “feed” of energy gathered in subspace and the tail is a part of that, they then use this energy for not only sustaining themselves but for also ships systems and propulsion.
Some of the ships have added rocket like propulsion but only to give an extra boost to speed when necessary, only larger and heavier ships require this. Because the makeup of the ships and how they feed of subspace energy, as well as how their “tails” work, make the ships incredibly fast. But it comes with downside of poor maneuvering, they can’t do any sharper turns.

I’m going to go into a smaller detailed description on different ships. Also keep in mind that they are not drawn to scale!

Heavy Fighter: A semi large standard fighter vessel, only a third or so the size of the larger Cruiser, designed for ship to ship combat with heavy weaponry and in large numbers it makes out the larger part of any incursion.

Cruiser: The standard combat mother ship, works like a bigger and meaner Heavy Fighter vessel. One or two of these always accompanies a battalion of Heavy Fighters to serve as a point of commanding voice.

Carrier: A non-offensive vessel which sole purpose is to carry personnel and equipment, during an incursion these offend follow last in the main assault to carry several thousands of ground units. They also work as colonizing vessels. They are simply the “carriers” of massive proportions. They are also quite slow and have a hard time going any other direction than forward.

Assault Vessel: A ship related to the “Heavy Fighter”, but with much increased speed and defenses. They have less heavy weaponry, but in large number they still pack a nasty punch and therefore work as the front of any incursion. They are the main “assault” and can easily hunt down ships, with the main purpose of causing chaos in the enemy fleet so that when the main assault force moves in they are in disarray.

Impaler: One of the cooler concepts I did in my opinion. These bad guys are quite large, somewhat bigger than the “Cruiser”. With heavily reinforced armor and shielding these ships are launched at incredible speeds with the sole purpose of ramming larger enemy ships with their great spike like front, thus taking out main commands and causing more disarray for the enemy ships. They are tho costly to produce and they do not last long due to their kamikaze-like approach and are therefore saved for the more needing battles.

Laser Cruiser: I’m not that pleased with this one, did not turn out that good. What can I say, it fires firking’ laserz! pew pew!… High powered lasers that requires charging, made for penetrating ships shields and armor, skewering them through and through. (Look at the Ori Motherships in Stargate SG-1 if you what to know what kind of laser)

“Probe”-Type Scouter: Tiny non-piloted scouter ship with stealth capabilities, made for indepth scouting.. so yeah, “probing” ;)

A-Type Scouter: Dashes with lightning speed past ships and defenses to scout, low defenses and low on weaponry. High speed kamikaze scouter basically, “get the intel or die trying”.

B-Type Scouter: A much more defensive option to the “A-Type”, much slower with the strategy of instead of dodging all attacks, like the A-Type, it takes them all head-on.

i loved these drawings i used them in a drawing i did .i did some slight changes to them such as in combinding them with some metal so to give them a exoscelition and alowing them to look more advanced

  2. Thanks, how great! I love that you did some work based on my concepts, if you could post them somewhere and send me the link I would love to see them! Cheers :D
